Promises

Why do we make promises of forever?

Some are kept for awhile - others never.

When I made you promises - I meant them

And even tho I broke them -

I would make them all again.

There is one promise that I can keep this time

I promise to cherish the days when you were mine

Even though I've gone away

I will love you until my dying day.

This is the one and only promise to be true

All the others I have broken right in two.

I will always love you - of that I'm sure.

The love we had was always sweet and pure.



Neither of us could really change

I tried so hard - my life to rearrange

But deep inside I had another life

I could not throw away -

no matter what the strife.

Now here I am, making more promises to you.

Promises of remembering our time together

and loving you.

Promises that this time I can keep

Because my love for you is still so very deep.



You got tired of all the promises I made

I promised you forever but I never stayed.

I think of all the times we got lost in our blue sea

I wonder if you ever think of me.

Yes,

I made so many promises that never did come true

But sweetheart, no matter what else I ever do

You are my Forever Love

and this is my last promise to you
