~A Bit Old Fashioned~

Don't you love the era
about a hundred years ago?
I wish I lived back then....
Everything was beautiful
Life moved along kind of slow

The dresses all the women wore
I think were really neat
Actually....
Now that I think of it....
How did they stand the heat?

OK....The homes then...
Wow, Weren't they wonderful?
So big and decorated with
all that "gingerbread"
from the ceiling to the floor
Now that I think of it...
They still got dusty
I'm sure housework
was a dreaded chore

But the furniture....
Simply divine
The prettiest I have ever seen
Now that I think of it...
Where was the washing machine?

Actually, now that
"I AM"
thinking about all of it
Before I make any wishes
Just where was the dishwasher
to wash all of those dishes

Where was the
electricity to run
the appliances....
Where WERE the appliances?
This era that I think
was SO divine....
Not even a clothes dryer
They hung the wash
outside on a line

And when they had to
travel really far
There was no garage
'Cause there was no car

There was no vacuum cleaner
to clean the rug of dust
Beating that rug
outside was a must

And OH MY GOODNESS
Not even a computer
Not even AOL
No online buddies
or "You've got mail"

Alright...
I'll admit
I may be an "Old fashioned"
girl at heart
But, I better be careful
what I wish for
I think I'll stay here....
I don't want to go back
to that era anymore
