"A TRIBUTE TO ELVIS---HOW GREAT
THOU ART"
As I sit here all alone, with
the rain pouring down;
I feel a certain emptiness, like
music with no sound.
I just can't believe the news
I've heard, or even what I've read;
I know it's true, but just can't
except, that Elvis "The King", is dead.
When you follow someone's life
and career, right from the very start;
A blow like this is a personal
one, I feel deep within my heart.
Watching Elvis perform 3 months
ago, I never imaged then;
That his singing on the "Spectrum"
stage, I'd never be seeing again.
Elvis has been my idol, since
I was just thirteen;
And if you've never had an idol,
then you can't know what I mean.
The loyalty by countless millions,
for more than 20 years;
Has turned into a nightmare,
a reality one fears.
A nation stunned, with disbelief
trying to understand why;
Why now, why the "King", why-oh-why;
did Elvis have to die?
A question that has no answer,
it's inevitable as we all know;
But through his music and his
fans, his memory will grow.
Elvis was a "Living Legend", unique
in every way;
Changing music, styles, times
and lives,
from the '50's; to our present
day.
Many will say: "The King is gone",
"he died in '77";
But if you close your eyes, and
listen hard;
he's singing in "Rock-n-Roll"
Heaven!
